Programme Overview
The Department of Humanities offers two combinations of undergraduate programmes in Journalism, Political Science and Optional English (JPOE), and Psychology, Journalism and Optional English (PJOE). Both these programmes are for a duration of 3 years, consisting of 6 semesters.
The BA program in Psychology, Journalism, and Optional English (PJOE) is a dynamic and interdisciplinary course designed to equip students with a robust understanding of human behavior, effective communication, and creative expression. This program blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for diverse careers in media houses, public relations, content writing, programme production, crisis management, equipping the students for roles such as editors, reporters, cinematographers, writers, creators, counsellors, psychiatrists, mental health care givers, clinical psychologists, counseling psychologists, and forensic psychologists. This integrated program fosters analytical thinking, creativity, and communication proficiency, enabling students to pursue careers in journalism, counselling, public relations, writing, and academia.
The eligibility requirements for this program are that Candidates who have completed two years of pre-university course (10+2/PUC) from Karnataka State Board or its equivalent from other states/boards with 40% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible for admission into this programme. Also, students pursuing an International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations. Further, Applicants pursuing the IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits, and applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.
