Kannada Rajyotsava 2025

M.S. Ramaiah Arts, Science and Commerce College Autonomous and Kannada Department celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava 2025 with great enthusiasm. Our Kannada festival was celebrated on Tuesday, 04.11.2025, at A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium.
Kannada comedian Richard Louis and the Guests of honour were Dr. B.L. Suresh, Director, Kannada Television, are the Chief guests of this Kannada Rajyotsava Sambrham 2025 program. The program was presided over by Dr. Karisidhappa, Chief Academic Advisor of Gokul Education foundation, while on the stage were G.Ramachandra, CFO, Chief Research Advisor, Dr. Rajasab, Principal of our MSRCASC, Dr. Pushpa H. And the Vice Principal Prof. B.S. Jayaram was the chairperson. First, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Bhuvaneshwari and a procession was taken out to the hall in front of the college with folk art forms such as Dollukunita, Veeragase, and Kansale dances. All the dignitaries participated in this. Then the folk art forms performed their performances.
Then the official program of the stage started with the Ramaiah Anthem, prayers and lighting of lamps by the dignitaries. Our College Principal Dr. Pushpa H welcomed all the dignitaries on the stage with great respect and presented a bouquet. Then the Vice Principal Prof. B.S. Jayaram introduced the chief guest, the famous Kannada comedian Richard Louis, and the honoured guests Dr. B.L. Suresh, and the educational institution paid tribute to them. Then Dr. B.L. Suresh addressed the program and spoke about the culture, heritage, country, language and thought of Kannada, examples of his childhood reading and development and his admiration for Kannada.
Then Richard Louis humorously shared his experience with the students about the importance of the elegant words of the mother tongue. Dr. Rajasab, the dignitary of the stage, explained many aspects of the literature and reading of our century along with the literary genres of Kannada. As part of the Kannada Rajyotsava, inter-college competitions were organized in the College in which the winning students were given prizes and certificates by the dignitaries. Finally, Dr. Karisiddhappa, who presided over the program, spoke about how important Kannada is and how beautiful the language is.
The main attraction of the program was the famous Kannada comedian Richard Louis, who made everyone laugh with his humorous remarks.

Hindi Diwas 2025
18th September 2025
The occasion of Hindi Diwas was observed with due reverence and enthusiasm on the 18th of September, 2025, at MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The event was conducted as an intercollegiate festival aimed at fostering the appreciation and promotion of the Hindi language among the student community. On the particular day many cultural events also conducted.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Malatesh Mailar, Assistant Director at DRDO, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), who delivered the keynote address. His discourse underscored the critical role of Hindi as a unifying medium of communication in India and emphasized the need to balance cultural heritage with scientific and technological progress.
The intercollegiate fest witnessed robust participation and enthusiastic competition, reflecting the students’ commitment to preserving and promoting Hindi. The amalgamation of traditional literary pursuits with modern-day challenges rendered the event both educational and engaging. The audience was captivated by the eloquence and creativity demonstrated throughout the program.

Samskrita Dinam 2025
9th August 2025
The Department of Sanskrit at M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce- Autonomous, organised Samskrita Dinam- 2025 with the theme “Youth Power in Preserving Sanskrit” on 9th August 2025 from 11:00 am at the Dr. Abdul Kalam Auditorium. The event was graced by Vice-Principal Prof. Jayarama B S, and the Chief Guest, Dr. Suneel K S, HOD, Department of Sanskrit, Jain Evening College.
The proceedings began with the arrival of the Chief Guest and Vice-Principal at 11:00 am, followed by the felicitation ceremony and a symbolic sapling presentation. The event was commenced by Trisha and Prerana from BCA and Bcom (Semester III), leading into the rendition of the Ramaiah Anthem. A lamp lighting ceremony was then held, after which the Chief Guest and Vice-Principal were formally welcomed. Lekhana Raghu from BA (Semester III) introduced Dr. Suneel K S, setting the stage for his address.
In his speech, Dr. Suneel K S highlighted key themes including Indian Philosophy, the relevance of Sanskrit on the global stage, and the importance of skill development. The event also saw the distribution of Centum Scorers Awards and prizes of inter-collegiate competitions. This was followed by Presidential Remarks from Prof. Jayarama B S, in which he praised the department’s initiatives and encouraged students to embrace India’s linguistic heritage.

Bhashotsava 2025
21st April 2025
Inter-collegiate Language Fest was organised by the Department of Indian Languages on 21st April 2025 in MS Ramaiah College of Art Science and Commerce at APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium from 10:00 AM onwards. After the arrival of the dignitaries, the event commenced with the brief welcome of the dignitaries by Dr Lakshmi V, HOD of Indian Languages.
Dr. Pushpa H, Principal addressed the gathering followed by Prof Jayaram B S, Vice Principal. Later, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Prabhavathi. After the gathering, the event officially started. The participants from various colleges were sent to the other auditoriums for the further events. As different competitions went on in three different auditoriums simultaneously as follows Kannada events for folk singing and PPT presentation Hindi events shayari recitation, PPT presentation where the judge Prof. Fernandes was marking the points and last Sanskrit events Gita recitation and Sahitya vachana.
The students actively participated in the events and showed their interest towards the different events organised by different languages. More than hundred students participated in different events with enthusiasm. Three hundred students attended and benefited from these events.
Field visit to Veda Vijnana Gurukula
3rd April 2025
The Department of Sanskrit had arranged a visit to Veda Vijnana Gurukula on 3rd of April 2025 near Tavarekere, Bangalore. As a practical research and experience on how does ancient education system works i.e. Gurukulas’, which was the research topic “How does our ancient education system differ from present education system”, of the study group.

Field visit to Historical Site – Vidurashwatha
7th February 2025
The Department of Indian Languages in association with the NSS had organized a one-day field visit to Vidurashwatha near Gauribidanur on 7th February, 2025. The purpose of this visit was to inculcate nationalistic values in the students. Vidurashwatha is a place known for its legend from the Mahabharata times. Vidura, the minister of the Kauravas, had come to the south after the 18 days’ war of Mahabharata. And it is in this place that he planted a Ashwatha (Peepal) tree. Hence deriving its name Vidurashwatha. Also, it is known for the participation in the Indian Independence movement. On 25th April, 1938, there was a peaceful gathering of the congress members for hoisting the flag of Indian National Congress as a part of the freedom movement. During this, there erupted an agitation between the people and the police where the police open fired on the people killing 34 of them. Due to this massacre, this place is also known as the Jallianwala Bagh of the south.
On the day of the visit, a total of 40 students and 4 staff reported in the college at 8:45 AM. And the troupe left at 9:15 AM, reaching Vidurashwatha at 11:15 AM. The group visited the Freedom Memorial complex where a memorial has been dedicated to the martyrs of the Vidurashwatha massacre. After commemorating at the memorial, the Veera Soudha was visited where a gallery of Indian Independence movement has been made and a short documentary on Vidurashwatha was shown to the group by the local administration.
Later, the group visited the Ashwathanarayana Swami temple and took the blessings of the deity. After that, the group had lunch in the Annadana prasada of the temple and started its journey back at 2:00 PM. The one-day field visit ended by reaching the college at 4:30 PM.

Kannada Rajyotsava 2024
16th November 2024
M S Ramaiah college of Arts, Science and Commerce on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava organized The Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration on 16th November 2024. The program began with The Kannada Naada Geethe, followed by a prayer song by the students. The Principal, Vice Principals and the faculty from the department of Indian languages inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. The guests were welcomed with saplings, following which they addressed the gathering. Where Dr. Pushpa.H (Principal), L.N.Mukundaraj (President karnataka sahitya Academy), Dr. Parswanath H V (CEO gokula education foundation), Dr. Karizuddappa (chief Academic advisor) were the Chief guest for the event. The Chief guest addressed the students about Karnataka states richness in language, culture, people. We as citizens should protect our mother tongue and teach others the same. The Cultural activities, like dance and songs in Kannada language was performed by the students of Ramaiah college. The traditional folk dance form, popular in Coastal Karnataka districts, Yakshagana was also performed to enhance the culture of Karnataka.
The highlight of the program was a performance of Veera Gaase, Kamsale which is a tribal dance in Karnataka. Veera Gaase, Kamsale, performed by a professional group held the audience spell bound.

Hindi Diwas 2024
18th September 2024
The Department of Hindi had decided to celebrate Hindi Diwas and the Hindi Diwas event was organized on 18th September 2024, Wednesday, in Vishweshwaraiah Seminar Hall at 10 am. The official program started with Ramaiah anthem followed by invocation and lighting the lamp. The Chief guest was Shri. Gyanchand Marmanj, famous poet and renowned speaker. The Guest of honour was Dr. Santhosh Kumar Mishra, Professor, Govt Women College, Malleswaram.
The chief guest in his speech threw light on the influence of English on Hindi as well as other Indian languages. He spoke about the importance to promote our Indian Languages as they are the base of our culture and civilisation.
After the Chief guest speech, the Guest of Honour, Dr. Santhosh Kumar Mishra spoke about the power of Languages in our life. He also asked students to speak in their mother tongue as it will be very helpful in maintaining our culture. After the speech Academic Registrar, Dr. Anandappa Irumukhadavar gave away the Hindi Diwas message. After that prize distribution to the winners of the competitions took place. The Chief Guest and the Vice – Principal gave away the prizes to the winners. Later, students presented some cultural programs, like recitation, singing and stand-up comedy.

Samskrita Dinam 2024
19th August 2024
The Department of Sanskrit had decided to celebrate World Sanskrit Day and the Samskrita Dinam event was organized on 19th August 2024, Monday, in Vishweshwaraiah Seminar Hall at 11 am. The event started off with the inauguration of the exhibition by the Chief Guest Dr. Ganapati R Bhat, HOD of the Department of Sanskrit, ASC Degree College and a renowned columnist, and the Vice Principal Prof. B. S. Jayarama. The exhibition showcased the names of various departments of our college in Sanskrit and phrases in Sanskrit relevant to the subjects of the departments.
After the inaugural of exhibition, the stage event commenced wherein the chief guest addressed the students. The chief guest in his speech threw light on the influence of Sanskrit on English as well as other Indian languages.
After the guest speech, the prize distribution to the winners of the competitions took place. The Chief Guest and the Vice – Principal gave away the prizes to the winners. Later, the Vice Principal delivered the presidential address wherein he stressed the importance of language studies. The formal event concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Vice Principal.
