Industrial Visit to Times of India

18 November 2025

The Department of Journalism organized an industrial visit to The Times of India’s largest printing press at Bommasandra, Bengaluru, on 18 November 2025. A total of 23 students from II and III Year Journalism participated, accompanied by Ms. Arathy and Mr. Sarath B. Students observed the entire newspaper production workflow, including page design, pre-press, plate-making, high-volume printing and distribution. The technical team explained colour layout decisions, printing technology and quality checks. The visit helped students connect classroom concepts with real newsroom production, giving them a clearer understanding of design, technology and large-scale media operations.


World Mental Health Week Celebration

6th - 10th October 2025

The Department of Humanities (Psychology) observed World Mental Health Week from 6–10 October 2025 with a series of interactive and creative activities aimed at promoting emotional well-being and mental health awareness. With around 100 participants, the week focused on helping students manage stress, build resilience, express emotions, and reflect on digital well-being.

The week began with Stress-Free Monday, featuring a Balloon Wall with motivational messages and a Doodle Wall encouraging mindful creativity. Gratitude Wednesday included a DIY Photo Frame Corner and an Appreciation Wall, fostering kindness and peer support. Emotions Thursday engaged students through an Emoji Spin Wheel and Emoji Wall, promoting emotional expression and awareness.

On 10 October, a guest lecture by Dr. Swathi from Ramaiah Medical College addressed “Young Adults in a Digital World,” highlighting the mental health impact of screen time and strategies for digital mindfulness. The week successfully encouraged reflection, positivity, and healthier mental habits across campus.


World Alzheimer’s Day Awareness Program – “Memories Matter”

The Department of Humanities (Psychology) observed World Alzheimer’s Day on 23 September 2025 with an engaging awareness program held in the Psychology Lab. With 21 participants, the event aimed to educate students about Alzheimer’s disease, highlight the importance of memory, and foster empathy toward individuals affected by cognitive decline.

Psychology students organized two interactive activities. Draw a Memory encouraged participants to illustrate their favourite memories, followed by voluntary sharing that promoted self-expression, confidence, and emotional connection among peers. The second activity, Fact or Myth Quiz, tested students’ knowledge about Alzheimer’s while debunking common misconceptions, creating a lively and informative learning environment. The program successfully blended creativity with awareness, offering psychology students hands-on experience in event facilitation while promoting social responsibility. Overall, the initiative strengthened students’ understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and helped build a more empathetic and informed campus community.


JOURNALISM STUDENTS EXPLORE VISUAL STORYTELLING THROUGH FILM SCREENING OF “THE RED BALLOON

The Department of Humanities (Journalism & Mass Communication) at Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Film Screening Activity for journalism students on September 23, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the MCA Gallery Room, 6th floor. The session featured the classic French short film “The Red Balloon” (1956) directed by Albert Lamorisse, known for its innovative visual storytelling and minimal dialogue. The activity was designed to help students critically analyse filmmaking techniques, narrative styles, and journalistic themes portrayed in cinema. Through the screening, students explored how powerful stories can be conveyed visually, emphasizing themes such as childhood, freedom, and social commentary. The event also aimed to strengthen students’ media literacy by encouraging them to examine narrative structures, camera movements, and symbolism within the film. Following the screening, an intra-class short movie competition was announced, inviting students to apply what they learned by creating their own short films and experimenting with non-traditional storytelling formats such as photo essays, short documentaries, and multimedia reports. Faculty members highlighted the importance of integrating cinematic analysis into journalism education, as it enables future journalists to appreciate visual communication beyond traditional news formats. The session encouraged students to observe how emotions, context, and perspective can be crafted without relying heavily on words.


RAMAIAH STUDENTS WITNESS JUSTICE IN ACTION AT KARNATAKA HIGH COURT

In a transformative academic initiative, the Department of Humanities at M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an educational field visit to the High Court of Karnataka, offering BA Political Science students unprecedented access to India's judicial machinery in action. The all-day excursion allowed students across three academic years to observe live court proceedings from gallery seats in multiple courtrooms, witnessing the intricate dance of legal arguments, judicial deliberations, and case disposals firsthand. The immersive experience brought constitutional law textbooks to life as students watched judges, advocates, and litigants navigate complex legal terrain. Beyond the courtrooms, participants explored the High Court's Museum and Library, delving into archival legal resources and Karnataka's rich judicial heritage. The visit fulfilled four key academic objectives: connecting theoretical constitutional studies with practical application, demystifying procedural law through direct observation, fostering independent legal research capabilities, and inspiring potential careers in law, governance, and public policy. Faculty coordinators noted the visit's success in deepening students' critical understanding of judicial processes and institutional functioning. "Witnessing justice being administered in real-time profoundly impacts how students engage with political and legal discourse, " remarked department officials. The initiative underscores Ramaiah College's commitment to experiential learning, ensuring political science education transcends classroom boundaries to encompass the living institutions that shape democratic governance.


MÉLANGE 2.0: A VIBRANTBLENDOF ART, INTELLECT, AND INNOVATION ATMSRCASC: TWO-DAY INTERCOLLEGIATE FEST CELEBRATES CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, AND THE FUSION OF ART WITH TECHNOLOGY

16 and 17 September 2025

The Department of Humanities at MSRCASC hosted its intercollegiate fest Mélange 2.0 on September 16 and 17, 2025, under the theme “Blending Art, Mind, and Machine. ” The event, inaugurated by Mr. Siddappa Kaloji, Editor of Vijaya Vahini Digital, brought together 323 participants from various colleges, creating a platform for creativity, collaboration, and competition. The two-day fest featured a diverse range of events that tested participants’ academic, cultural, and creative abilities. Activities such as Crisis Stimulation, Debate, and Product Review encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving, while Poster Making, Film Fusion, and Photophile 2.0 showcased artistic and technical skills. Cultural highlights included Solo Dance, Band Battle, BGMI, and the Fashion Show, which added energy and colour to the event. Organized under the guidance of coordinators Mr. Sarath B and Ms. Varsha Deshpande, the fest achieved its goal of fostering innovation and intercollegiate collaboration. Students enhanced their communication and leadership skills while competing in a healthy, engaging atmosphere. With its seamless organization, enthusiastic participation, and creative spirit, Mélange 2.0 concluded on a successful note—leaving a lasting impression and setting a benchmark for future editions.


Event: Field Visit to Little Sisters of the Poor

8th September 2025

The field visit was conducted on 8 September 2025 for III and V semester Psychology students to Little Sisters of the Poor–Home for the Aged in Richmond Town, aimed at helping them apply classroom learning to real-life settings. The field visit was conducted under the Psychology club MINDSCAPE. The field visit was organised by Ms. Dionne Bose, a Psychology faculty member. The visit began with an introduction to the organisation’s history by a nun, followed by interactions with the elderly residents, where students learned about their life circumstances, illnesses, experiences of abandonment, and psychological needs. The field visit helped students understand ageing from a Developmental Psychology perspective, observe emotional and social challenges such as loneliness and dependency, and develop empathy and sensitivity toward the elderly. It also enabled them to connect theoretical concepts to practical experiences and gain awareness of potential career paths and service opportunities in geriatric care.


CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLAR EXPLORES DEMOCRACY'S LIVING FRAMEWORK

The Department of Humanities at M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce hosted an illuminating guest lecture featuring Dr. M.J. Vinod, Professor at Christ University and former Dean of Social Sciences at Bangalore University, who unpacked the complexities of constitutional democracy across two nations and multiple identities. Addressing over 200 students from BA and BCA programmes at Kuvempu Seminar Hall, Dr. Vinod presented a compelling comparative analysis of the Indian and American constitutional frameworks, exploring federalism, judicial intervention, and the philosophical underpinnings rooted in Enlightenment thinkers like Locke and Montesquieu. "A Constitution is an organic entity, " he emphasized, highlighting constitutional adaptability through India's landmark amendments and recent American executive orders. The session's second segment examined identity politics in India, where language, caste, and religion serve as powerful mobilization tools. Dr. Vinod traced how linguistic state reorganization spawned regional political movements, while caste and religious identities continue shaping electoral outcomes. "Religion is a very critical marker of Indian politics, " he noted, acknowledging its paradoxical role as both unifying force and divisive element. Event coordinator Dr. Lakshmi Karlekar praised the initiative for connecting classroom theory with global political realities, while Principal Dr. Pushpa H. and Vice-Principal Prof. Jayarama B.S. graced the occasion.


STUDENTS CAPTURE MOMENTS OF CREATIVITY AT INTRA-COLLEGIATE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

The Department of Humanities (Journalism & Mass Communication) at Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) organized an Intra-Collegiate Photography Contest on August 6, 2025, at the MCA Gallery Room. The contest was held to commemorate World Photography Day, observed on August 19, and to encourage students to explore photography as a medium of creativity, communication, and self-expression. The event, coordinated by Mr. Sarath B, aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure by allowing students to experience the artistic and technical dimensions of photography. It provided a platform for participants to showcase their unique perspectives, composition skills, and storytelling abilities through the lens. A total of 20 students from various departments participated, each submitting original photographs based on the theme “Nature. ” The contest encouraged students to apply concepts learned in class—such as framing, lighting, and visual balance—while experimenting with camera angles and postprocessing techniques. It also emphasized originality and ethical photography practices by restricting the use of AI-generated or heavily edited images. After careful evaluation by the judges, Syeda Subiya Sugara (BA 1st Sem) secured the first place, Vismay Rao (BSc 5th Sem) won second place, and Nanditha P S (BSc 5th Sem) earned third place. The winners were congratulated and felicitated by the Principal, who appreciated the Media Team for successfully organizing an event that celebrated both creativity and skill.


STUDENTS TEST PATRIOTIC PROWESS IN PRE-INDEPENDENCE DAY QUIZ CHALLENGE

On the eve of India's 78th Independence Day, M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce transformed its MCA Gallery Room into an intellectual battleground where students competed to demonstrate their knowledge of the nation's journey to freedom. The Department of Humanities, led by event coordinator Dr. Ganesh Naik, orchestrated the interdepartmental quiz competition that tested participants on India's freedom struggle, constitutional framework, and the leaders who shaped the nation's destiny. The engaging competition drew enthusiastic participation from students across disciplines, fostering both academic rigor and patriotic fervour. H.S. Amathya Shiva from B.Com (A), Batch 2025, emerged victorious, claiming the first prize with his comprehensive grasp of India's independence narrative. Anucheth A.S. secured second place, while Alan Roy E.A. captured third position—both representing the B.Com (A) program. The quiz aimed to deepen historical understanding while nurturing quick thinking and analytical capabilities among young minds. Dr. Naik emphasized the competition's role in instilling nationalism and respect for India's heritage. "This interactive format transforms learning about our freedom struggle from textbook memorization to engaged discovery, " he noted. The event successfully achieved its objectives of fostering awareness about India's democratic values, constitutional principles, and the sacrifices of freedom fighters, preparing students to become informed citizens who appreciate their nation's rich legacy.


STUDENTS VISIT HOME FOR THE AGED, GAIN INSIGHTS INTO ELDERLY CARE AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

In a meaningful educational field visit held on Monday morning, students visited a local Home for the Aged to understand the emotional and psychological aspects of ageing. The visit began at 9:30 a.m. with an orientation session led by a nun from the organisation, who introduced the students to the history, founders, and purpose of the institution. Following the introduction, the students toured the facility and interacted with several residents. The conversations offered a glimpse into the lives of elderly individuals who have been abandoned by their families and now depend on the care and support provided by the home. Many of the residents shared their personal stories, health conditions, and the circumstances that brought them to the institution. The visit provided students with practical insights into Developmental Psychology, helping them connect theoretical concepts to real-life experiences. Observing the physical and emotional challenges faced by the elderly, students reflected on issues such as loneliness, neglect, and the need for compassion-driven care. Faculty members accompanying the group noted that such visits encourage empathy and social awareness among students. The session also emphasized the importance of community involvement and emotional support for the elderly, many of whom struggle with illnesses and a lack of familial connection.


MÉLANGE 2025– A CELEBRATIONOF CREATIVITY & COLLABORATION

5 and 6 May 2025

The Department of Humanities, MSRCASC, organized its annual interdepartmental fest Mélange 2025 on 5th and 6th May 2025 at the Kuvempu Seminar Hall and Humanities classrooms. The fest brought together over 250 students from Political Science, Journalism, and Psychology, providing a platform for creativity, collaboration, and intellectual exchange. Day 1 (May 5): The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Vice Principal, HOD, and faculty members. Events included an Oxford style debate and group discussion (Political Science), “Capturing Emotions” photography contest (Journalism), and a series of fun games. Day 2 (May 6): The Psychology department conducted psychometric assessments focusing on well-being, followed by an engaging Escape Room challenge testing problem-solving and teamwork. The fest concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, an address by the Principal, and a video presentation by the Journalism Media Team. Mélange 2025 successfully fostered interdisciplinary learning, leadership, creativity, and teamwork; while highlighting the diverse talents of Humanities students.


Field Visit to Missionaries of Charity Home for the Sick and Dying Destitute

A field visit was organised by Ms. Dionne Bose, a Psychology faculty member from the Department of Humanities, for IV and VI semester Psychology students to the Missionaries of Charity Home for the Sick and Dying Destitute in Yelahanka. The field visit was conducted under the Psychology club MINDSCAPE. During the visit, students learned about the women residing in the facility, many of whom suffer from mental illnesses or physical disabilities and have been abandoned by their families. Students interacted with the residents to understand their conditions and observed the use of Animal-Assisted Therapy as part of the organization’s intervention methods. The visit aimed to help students apply theoretical psychological concepts in real-life settings, understand the roles of mental health professionals, and develop essential observational, communication, and ethical skills. Overall, the experience enhanced students’ practical understanding of psychological practice, improved their interpersonal skills, provided clarity about career paths, and strengthened their awareness of ethical responsibilities in professional settings.


JOURNALISM STUDENTS GAIN FIRSTHAND INSIGHTS INTO NEWSPAPER PRODUCTION AT DECCAN HERALD AND PRAJAVANI

The Department of Humanities (Journalism) organized an educational field visit to the printing houses of Deccan Herald and Prajavani newspapers, giving students firsthand exposure to the functioning of the print media industry on 17 April 2025. The primary objective was to help students understand the processes and technologies that drive large-scale newspaper production. Students observed the critical stages of publishing—pre-press, press, and post-press operations—while interacting with professionals from both the editorial and production teams. These interactions highlighted the coordination, precision, and workflow necessary for timely daily publication. The visit also featured demonstrations of layout and design preparation, typesetting techniques, and high-speed offset printing machinery. This hands-on learning experience enriched the students’ understanding of contemporary print journalism practices, bridging classroom concepts with real-world application.


PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS EXPLORE REHABILITATION AND ANIMALASSISTED THERAPY IN FIELD VISIT

The Department of Humanities–Psychology organised a field visit at 9:30 a.m., where students interacted with women residents living with mental health disorders or physical disabilities. The facility provides care and rehabilitation for many women who have been abandoned by their families and left without support. During the visit, students engaged in conversations with the residents, gaining valuable insights into their personal experiences and challenges of living with mental illness. The visit was coordinated under the guidance of Ms. Dionne Bose, faculty from the Department of Humanities, who accompanied the students throughout and facilitated meaningful interactions. A key highlight was the introduction to Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT), a unique approach where trained animals are used to enhance emotional, social, and cognitive well-being. The therapy was presented as a vital practice that fosters connection, aids healing, and improves the overall quality of life for residents. The exposure left students with a deeper understanding of alternative therapies and the significance of compassionate rehabilitation.


UNLOCKING THE SECRETS TO SUCCESS

The MINDSCAPE Psychology Club, Department of Humanities, M.S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), organized a full-day workshop titled “Unlocking the Secrets to Success” on March 26, 2025. The session was facilitated by Dr. Ankitha Umakanth, Founder of Mind Auraa Psychological Training & Counselling Academy, and coordinated by Ms. Dionne Bose, Faculty of Psychology, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Pushpa H., Vice-Principal Prof. Jayarama B.S., and Dr. Ganesh Naik (HOD, Humanities). The workshop aimed to provide students with practical insights into success, self-growth, and habit formation. It featured interactive activities such as the Strength Wheel, Vision Board creation using SMART goals, case studies, and puzzle-solving tasks. Students engaged in mindfulness exercises and group reflections that encouraged awareness of their strengths, leadership abilities, and future aspirations. The afternoon session explored the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” self-discipline, and strategies to overcome distractions and setbacks. Thought-provoking video clips and examples—including scenes from The Karate Kid, Indra Nooyi’s talks, and Derek Redmond’s Olympic story—were used to inspire resilience and perseverance. The event concluded with group chart presentations and key takeaways on motivation, consistency, and a growth mindset. Overall, the workshop was an enriching experience that empowered students to pursue long-term success with confidence and clarity.


FIELD VISIT TO VIDHANA SOUDHA

The Department of Humanities (Political Science) organized a field visit to Vidhana Soudha on 17th March 2025 for BA Political Science students. Coordinated by Mr. Prashanth S P, the visit offered students a unique opportunity to witness the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in session during the Budget discussions. The program aimed to deepen their understanding of legislative procedures, financial governance, and the role of elected representatives in policy-making and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to legislative processes. Students observed live debates and deliberations, gaining valuable insights into the workings of the state legislature. The visit not only reinforced classroom learning but also encouraged critical thinking about public administration and governance. It was a highly engaging and inspiring experience that motivated many students to consider careers in law, politics, and civil services.


DIGITAL INK AND GLOBAL THINK: BLOOMING CAREERS IN JOURNALISM

The Department of Humanities, MSRCASC, organized an insightful guest lecture on "Digital Ink and Global Think – Blooming Careers in Journalism" on March 11, 2025, at Kuvempu Hall. The session, held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, was graced by Dr. Juby Thomas, Associate Professor at Kristu Jayanti College. The event commenced under the guidance of Principal Dr. Pushpa H., with a warm welcome address by Vice Principal Prof. Jayarama B.S. Dr. Thomas, an esteemed author and researcher, shared her expertise on interpersonal relationships and overcoming challenges to achieve success. She engaged students through interactive ice-breaking activities and encouraged innovative thinking, highlighting the significance of collaborative learning. A key highlight of the session was her discussion on the media and entertainment industry’s market potential in India, inspiring students to explore diverse career paths in journalism. OUTREACH PROGRAM ON ENHANCING MEMORY TECHNIQUES

The Department of Humanities (Psychology) organized one day outreach activity to train high school students on ‘Enhancing Memory Techniques’ in preparation for their exams. The session was conducted on 11th February 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM, at M S Ramaiah High School. The event was coordinated by Ms. Varsha S. Deshpande, with seven BA psychology students facilitating the training. The program aimed to equip psychology students with hands-on experience in developing and implementing training modules, fostering social responsibility, and helping school students enhance their memory and learning efficiency. The BA students were divided into two groups: Group 1 trained 8th-standard students, while Group 2 worked with 9th-standard students. The sessions were interactive, engaging students through exercises and discussions, making learning enjoyable and practical. To encourage academic preparedness, transparent pouches and pens were distributed to school students. The outreach initiative provided BA students with valuable teaching experience, while school students gained effective memory enhancement strategies. The program successfully bridged classroom learning with real-world application, reinforcing the role of psychology in education and social impact.


QUIZ COMPETITION ON INDIA'S CONSTITUTION AND REPUBLIC DAY

The Department of Humanities – Political Science organized a quiz competition on 3rd February 2025 at 11:30 AM in the MCA Gallery Room. Coordinated by Mr. Ganesh Naik, the event aimed to enhance students’ awareness of India’s Constitution, history, and the significance of Republic Day. The quiz covered topics related to Republic Day celebrations, the Indian Constitution, and Freedom Fighters & Leaders. Students actively participated, showcasing their knowledge and enthusiasm.

Field Visit to Nightingale’s Centre for Aging and Alzheimer’s

The Department of Humanities (Psychology) organized a one-day field visit to Nightingale’s Centre for Aging and Alzheimer’s on 14 November 2024 for the 5th Semester B.A. Psychology students. The visit aimed to provide experiential learning on the psychological, emotional, and social challenges faced by individuals with Alzheimer’s and age-related cognitive decline, while helping students understand the role of professional caregiving in enhancing quality of life. A significant part of the visit involved interacting with the residents. Students listened to their stories, observed their daily routines, and reflected on the emotional and social aspects of aging. This interaction fostered empathy, sensitivity, and ethical awareness—key qualities for aspiring psychology professionals. Through conversations with caregivers, students also learned about the challenges and responsibilities involved in dementia care, as well as the psychological principles applied in managing behavioural and cognitive changes.


World Mental Health Day Celebration at MSRCASC

14th - 16th October 2024

The Department of Humanities (Psychology) organized a three-day inter-department event on 14–16 October 2024 to raise awareness about mental health and well-being. A total of 71 students from various UG and PG programs participated. The event featured poster-making and poetry-writing competitions, giving students a creative platform to express their thoughts on mental health. Alongside these competitions, fun and interactive games were conducted to promote teamwork, communication, and peer engagement, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

The closing ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by inspiring messages from Principal Dr. Pushpa H. and Vice Principal Jayaram, who encouraged students to host more such initiatives. A video montage capturing the highlights of the event was showcased, and prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions. The celebration effectively promoted awareness, creativity, and collaboration, leaving a meaningful impact on the student community.


Digital Detox for a Healthy Mind

The Department of Humanities organised a Guest Lecture on “Digital Detox for a Healthy Mind” in association with Dr. Ankitha Umakanth Founder- Mind Auraa who is a Psychologist and Trainer. The guest lecture was open to all the UG students. It was an enlightening experience as the resource person Dr. Ankitha Umakanth, touched on various aspects of our dependence on technology and what happens when we feel like we can’t live without it. She shed light on the ill effects of technology. She told us about how too much usage of digital devices causes health problems like lack of sleep which could lead to Insomnia. The resource person told us about Dopamine Disaster, which happens when we experience a surge of Dopamine when we check social media or engage in online shopping. This sucks us into a vicious cycle of wanting a Dopamine surge through technology. She told us how we could limit our use of digital devices. Dr. Ankitha made us be part of an interesting “paper tearing exercise”, which showed us that we are all unique in the way we do things. She asked us what would we want if we were marooned on an island to which the students gave interesting answers. She told us how we can achieve our goals and dreams through S.M.A.R.T.: Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Relevant. Timely. The guest lecture was an informative and insightful experience. The students greatly benefitted from it.

On 28th August 2024, the Department of Humanities, in collaboration with the Institute of Collaborative Counsel, hosted a guest lecture on the topic "Lean Startup and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in Business." The session was led by Mr. Prakarsh Nimbalkar, an accomplished entrepreneur and business strategist, known for his expertise in lean startup methodology and innovation management. The lecture began with an introduction to the core principles of the lean startup approach, a methodology that prioritizes agility, customer feedback, and continuous iteration to develop products that cater to market needs. The session also addressed common pitfalls faced by startups, particularly in the early stages of product development. Mr. Nimbalkar emphasized the significance of quick testing and iteration, allowing startups to pivot or persevere based on real-time market feedback. He encouraged entrepreneurs to focus on solving specific problems rather than chasing a perfect product from the outset. A question-and-answer session followed, where students and faculty members interacted with Mr. Nimbalkar. The audience raised queries about the challenges of implementing the lean startup methodology in different setup.

The closing ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by inspiring messages from Principal Dr. Pushpa H. and Vice Principal Jayaram, who encouraged students to host more such initiatives. A video montage capturing the highlights of the event was showcased, and prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions. The celebration effectively promoted awareness, creativity, and collaboration, leaving a meaningful impact on the student community.


Guest Lecture for Ambedkar Jayanti

A guest lecture was conducted on Ambedkar Jayanti on 27th May 2024 by the Department of Humanities. The resource person for the event was Dr. Devaiah G., an esteemed faculty member from the Alliance School of Law. During the lecture, Dr. Devaiah provided insightful perspectives on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's contributions to social justice and legal reforms in India. The session was both enlightening and engaging, highlighting the relevance of Ambedkar's ideals in contemporary society.


Guest Lecture - Swami Vivekananda - A guiding light for success in life by Dr. Ashish Sahani

The department of Humanities in collaboration with Vivekananda Study Centre, IIC, and IQAC conducted a guest lecture on occasion the Youth Day Celebration on 18th January 2024 at Vishweshwaraya auditorium at MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce as requested by the AICTE and IIC. “Swami Vivekananda - A guiding light for success in life” by cc as part of “Vikasit Bharat 2047 - Voice of Youth''. The session was initiated with the inaugural remarks by Ms. Namisha Kadam (MSRCASC, IIC committee Student member) in which she explained about the motto Youth Day and also of IIC. Dr. Ashish Sahani spoke about topics like the idea of education, dignity, self respect, self help. He emphasized the concept of involving Shraddha, i.e., concentration in every simple thing we do. Dr. Sahani enlightened the students with several life examples of Swami Vivekananda that made sense to the present day. Dr. Ashish narrated a story where Swami Vivekananda would absorb all the knowledge from books using his photographic memory. In today's world, we as teachers use powerpoint presentations to help the students understand things audio-visually. Introduction of new technologies are diminishing human potential. This is one of the many examples cited by Dr. Sahani in his lecture.
