Workshop on “Foundations of Effective Teaching: Methods, Learners, and Evaluation”

The Department of Computer Applications organised a workshop on “Foundations of Effective Teaching: Methods, Learners, and Evaluation” for the Final Year BCA students on 23rd September 2025 at the Kuvempu Seminar Hall. The session aimed to familiarise students with the fundamental principles of effective teaching, various instructional methods, learner differences, and the significance of constructive evaluation and feedback. Dr. Ramakrishnaiah T. N., Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology & Genetics and IQAC Co-ordinator, MSRCASC, served as the resource person. He highlighted different learner types, engaging pedagogical approaches, and reflective teaching practices that enhance classroom interaction and understanding. The workshop was coordinated by Ms. R. Srividya, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications. A total of 122 students participated enthusiastically. The session concluded with an interactive reflection, helping students appreciate how well-planned teaching methods can positively influence learning outcomes.
The session covered the concepts of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, along with real-time industry use cases from healthcare, retail, finance, manufacturing, and marketing. Students learned how organizations use analytics for patient diagnosis, fraud detection, credit scoring, process optimization, customer behaviour analysis, and business forecasting.
The speaker also introduced essential analytics tools and platforms such as Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, analytics tools, and programming skills for career advancement in the evolving digital landscape.
The session was highly informative and engaging, providing students valuable insights into real-world applications of data analytics. It motivated them to explore analytics as a career path and enhanced their understanding of modern technological trends.
Workshop on “Foundation of Research Aptitude and Methodology”
Date: 24 September 2025
The Department of Computer Applications organised a workshop on “Foundation of Research Aptitude and Methodology” on 24th September 2025 at the Kuvempu Seminar Hall. A total of 79 students participated in the session. The workshop focused on building a strong base in research methodology by covering the fundamentals of research, types of research, formulation of research questions and hypotheses, literature review methods, sampling techniques, and various data collection tools. Students also gained an understanding of data analysis, interpretation, and essential guidelines for writing research papers and theses. The session was facilitated by Dr. Sowbhagya R., a distinguished academician and researcher in the field of Science, widely recognised for her expertise in mentoring students and conducting research-focused workshops. Her clear explanations and practical insights made the session highly interactive and engaging. Students appreciated the relevance and depth of the content delivered, noting that the workshop strengthened their confidence in undertaking research projects and applying appropriate methodologies effectively. The event was coordinated by Ms. Suma C. from the Department of Computer Applications.
Workshop on Cyber Security

The Computer Science Department organized a workshop on "Cyber Security" for the BCA first-year students of 2024 on 20th August 2024 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM in the Computer Lab. The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Suhas M, a Cyber Security Trainer from Dubai. The event was formally inaugurated by Mr. Basavaraj CM, Head of the Department of Computer Science. The workshop was divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon, with around 123 students participating.
The event commenced with Ms. Bhumika A, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, introducing the resource person. In the first session, Mr. Suhas highlighted the significance of cyber security and the protection of personal data. He emphasized the need for data encryption and discussed the potential risks and challenges faced when data is left unprotected. He then demonstrated the processes of encryption and decryption and provided sample exercises, which the students actively participated in, showing great interest in learning how to secure data.
Guest Lecture on "Global Education Awareness program on Higher Education Abroad”
12th April 2025
The Department of Computer Science organized a Guest Lecture on the topic "Global Education Awareness Program on Higher Education Abroad" on 12th April 2025 at Mother Teresa Auditorium. The session, scheduled at 11:30 AM, was specially curated for the final-year students of BCA and B.Se (EMCs). The program was formally inaugurated by Ms. Hari Priya G. S., Assistant Professor, and BCA Department. In her welcome address, she encouraged students to actively engage with the session and interact with the resource person to gain valuable insights into the process and opportunities of' studying abroad.
Guest Lecture on "Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”

The Department of Computer Science organized a guest lecture on “Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning” dated 22nd January 2025. The objective of the program to inspire further interest in AI and ML – Encouraging the students to explore these fields further and pursue opportunities in them.
The Resource person for the day was Dr. Vijayalakshmi A Lepakshi, Associate Professor, School of CSA, Reva University, Bengaluru.
National Conference on “Trends in Multidisciplinary Research: Challenges and Applications”
Date: 15th & 16th May 2024
The National Science Conference on “Trends in Multi-Disciplinary Research: Challenges and Applications” organized by the Dept. of Sciences held at MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce on the 15th and 16th of May was a resounding success, fostering insightful discussions and collaborations in the realm of science. Dr. Vatsala G, the Principal, extended a warm welcome, setting the tone for the event, while Dr. Pushpa H, the Vice-Principal and convener of the National Conference, provided an overview of the conference's objectives. The release of the conference proceedings marked a significant milestone, showcasing scholarly contributions. Dignitaries felicitated the chief guest, Dr. Sridevi Annapurna Singh, Director of CFTRI, Mysuru, and the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Shankar Narayana Rao, Registrar of NIMHANS, Bengaluru, whose expertise in Dairy and Food Technology and brain function, neurological disorders, and stress-related issues respectively, enriched the event. The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Dr. Lakshmikanth RN, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, expressing gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and underscoring the conference's role in advancing scientific knowledge and collaboration
