QuantaVerse 2025 – Intercollegiate Science Fest

M.S Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) organized QuantaVerse 2025, an intercollegiate science fest, on 19th September 2025 at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium. The event brought together UG and PG students from across Bengaluru to celebrate scientific talent, creativity, and innovation.

A total of 93 teams from leading institutions—including Jain University, St. Joseph’s University, Mount Carmel College, Acharya Institute, Maharani Cluster University, MES College, GFGC Malleshwaram, Christ University, and many others—actively participated, making the fest a vibrant and competitive platform.

The fest aimed to showcase the college’s academic strength, infrastructure, and extracurricular culture, while encouraging teamwork, leadership, and confidence among students. Participants engaged in a range of science-based competitions such as Beyond the Crime Scene (Hackathon), Voice of Vision (Start-up Ideas), Knock Out Nucleus (Puzzle Event), Promtify (Web Designing), and The Scribe Sprint (Synthetic Biology Contest).

QuantaVerse 2025 successfully provided a stimulating space for young scholars to explore, compete, and collaborate, leaving a memorable impact on all participants.

National Science Day 2025 – MSRCASC

The Department of Sciences, MSRCASC, celebrated National Science Day on 28th February 2025 at the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium with the theme “Science Shaping Tomorrow.” The event commemorated the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman and highlighted the importance of science, innovation, and research in shaping society.

The celebration was organized in three phases: activities and competitions for school students on 11th February, inter-department competitions for MSRCASC students on 27th February, and the main programme on 28th February 2025, with 244 II-semester science students participating.

The chief guest, Prof. Jayaraman Srinivasan, former Chairman of the Divecha Centre for Climate Change and Honorary Professor at IISc Bengaluru, delivered an insightful talk on “The Science of Climate Change.” The session emphasized scientific awareness, climate responsibility, and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Microfest 2024 – Department of Microbiology

Microfest 2024, organized by the Department of Microbiology in association with the Sukshmanika Club, was held from 9th to 17th September 2024 and brought together 182 enthusiastic participants. The event aimed to promote creativity, scientific curiosity, and hands-on learning through a series of microbiology-themed competitions.

Students actively participated in engaging events such as Microrelay, Ferment Dine, Treasure Hunt, and the Microfest Quiz, each designed to enhance problem-solving, teamwork, and subject knowledge. The fest provided an exciting platform for students from various disciplines to explore microbiology in an interactive and enjoyable manner, making Microfest 2024 a memorable and impactful academic celebration.

International Microorganisms’ Day 2K24 – Life in Harmony with Microbes

The Department of Microbiology, MSRCASC, celebrated International Microorganisms’ Day 2K24 from 9th to 17th September 2024 with the theme “Life in Harmony with Microbes.” The event was held at the MSRCASC Campus (4th Floor & Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium) and saw active participation from B.Sc. I, II, and III-year students.

The celebration aimed to highlight the vital roles of microorganisms in everyday life, promote awareness about microbial diversity, and inspire students to pursue careers in microbiology. Various interactive and fun activities were conducted to help students appreciate the contributions of bacteria, fungi, viruses, algae, and protozoa in maintaining ecological balance.

The valedictory program featured Dr. Yogesh Shouche, Director, SKAN Research Trust, Bengaluru, who delivered an insightful session on the significance of microbes and their conservation for a sustainable future.

International Microorganisms’ Day 2K24 successfully promoted scientific curiosity, appreciation for the microbial world, and the importance of conserving microbial diversity.

Microfest-2K24

The Department of Microbiology, MSRCASC, organized Microfest-2K24 on 12th, 13th, and 29th August 2024 with the theme “Gut Microbiome – Health and Nutrition.” The fest aimed to enhance students’ understanding of emerging developments in microbiology while promoting experiential and interactive learning through a series of creative and scientific activities. A total of 160 postgraduate students participated in the event.

Microfest-2K24 featured engaging competitions such as Microphotography, Bio Rangoli, Bio Mehendi, Bio Song, Ferment Dine, and Treasure Hunt, conducted across the Microbiology laboratories and the Vishweshwaraih Auditorium. Various organizing committees—registration, discipline, event management, and certification—were efficiently managed by student volunteers under faculty guidance.

The event was inaugurated on 12th August 2024 by Principal Dr. Pushpa H, along with the faculty of the Department of Microbiology. The fest was coordinated by Dr. Prasanna Srinivas R (HOD), Dr. Vemula Vani, Dr. Snehalatha V, and Dr. Nimita Venugopal. Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges from multiple departments, recognizing students for creativity, originality, and technical skills.

National Science Day-2024

The event featured a series of engaging and educational competitions designed to encourage scientific exploration, highlight the diversity of scientific disciplines, and foster an innovative mindset among students. With a focus on creativity, sustainability, and open access to science, the activities provided students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge through hands-on and artistic approaches.

Multiple events were conducted, including creative science art, model-making, photography, and sustainability-themed presentations. Each activity emphasized originality, scientific thinking, and problem-solving. Students participated individually or in teams, depending on the event guidelines, and were supported by dedicated student coordinators.

Renowned experts such as Dr. Arun M. Isloor (Sir C.V. Raman Young Scientist Awardee, NITK Surathkal) and Dr. Dinesh Rangappa (Professor, VTU PG Centre) contributed to the event, adding academic value and motivation for the participants.
