RESEARCH

The title of my PhD thesis is “Medical Diagnosis of Thyroid Disorders using Ultrasound Images”. The aim is to develop novel, accurate, intelligent computerized automated system using image processing and machine learning techniques for diagnosis of two of the major Thyroid disorders: Thyroid nodule and Diffuse Goiter. The foremost work taken in this thesis are:

  1. Removal of noise from thyroid medical images and comparative study of different denoising algorithms to identify the best denoising algorithm.

  2. Image segmentation to retrieve required Region of Interest (ROI) and comparative study of different segmentation algorithms.

  3. Feature extraction followed by Feature subset selection using different search techniques; comparative study of various feature selection methods to reduce computational time and improve the classifier performance.

  4. A comparative analysis of Machine Learning Algorithms (MLAs) and development of Fuzzy Inference System for classification of Thyroid disorders.

  5. Development of deep convolution model to classify thyroid nodules.
