RESEARCH

Thesis title: Role of MET in SV40-induced mammary tumorigenesis. Our laboratory generated and characterized a transgenic mouse model (WAP-T mice) suitable for molecular analysis of initiation and progression of mammary carcinoma.

I focused on the role of MET during SV40 induced tumorigenesis. My thesis concluded that p53 acts as a repressor of the MET gene. Alleviation of this repressor function by T-Ag is essential for T-Ag mediated cellular transformation. A novel role for p53 gene was identified.
